Two makeup days added to school year calendar
Two school days have been added to this year’s school calendar to recover some of the instructional time lost to the recent weather-related cancellations. Friday, March 7 will be a regular school day for preK-12. It was originally scheduled as a mark reporting day. Friday, April 18 will be a regular school day for preK-12. It was originally scheduled as a staff development/teacher workshop day.  We believe adding these two days for students is important because of the unusual amount of instructional time that has been lost due to the weather cancellations. Adding the makeup days in early spring will help ensure more productive learning than adding them to the end of the school year.

MGSH named Honorable Mention MN School of Character
Synergy and Leadership Exchange named Maple Grove Senior High an Honorable Mention Minnesota School of Character for its creation and implementation of the character development program, "The Crimson Way."
Each year, Synergy recognizes schools for outstanding character development through its sponsorship of the Character Education Partnership’s (CEP) prestigious State and National Schools of Character program.
For the past five years, Maple Grove Senior High has actively involved students, staff, parents and the community in an intentional process to create, develop and implement a character education initiative. This has resulted in the development of "The Crimson Way," based upon the district's six core values. They will now serve as a model and mentor, helping other educators transform their school cultures and improve academics and student behavior.
Synergy will honor Maple Grove Senior High at an awards ceremony at the State Capitol May 8.

Nutrition Staff ‘Spice It Up’ Trying Out New Veggie Recipes
In the ongoing effort of Food Nutrition Services to improve service while helping students, families and staff feel respected, several nutrition staff participated in a special hands-on training this week. Experienced chef and facilitator Marshall O’Brien spent two afternoons teaching district staff some healthy new vegetable recipes. District staff tried out O’Brien’s tips and tricks as they recreated his recipes for Parmesan roasted broccoli, spicy butternut squash, and chili sweet potatoes — some of which may wind up on students’ lunch plates in the near future.
